Tripartite, Inc. acts as consultant for the Window Replacement and Masonry Restoration of the University of Illinois’ Abbott Power Plant.
Although the University has not sought historic listing status for this building, it is an eligible structure. The client requires the project to adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation. The earliest portion of the building dates to 1938 with many additions throughout the 20th century including the most recent addition dating to 2005.
Original windows are steel, single paned, many spanning a height of three stories. Tripartite contracted with a local restoration mason to assist with a thorough investigation of the exterior masonry. Selective lintel replacement is anticipated, along with the repair of localized and systemic masonry failures. Replacement windows shall meet the client’s tested standards.
Hazardous material testing and abatement will coordinate with the client’s own forces.
